After Flowering
Bromeliads grow with the ultimate sacrifice of life. When most Bromeliads finish flowering they die and the produce mulch/food for pups or baby plants that will develop normally from the bottom of the plant. the mother plant dies as a means of food for the babies as most bromeliads are found growing on rocks/trees where there is sometimes little or no food for the baby plants (pups) to grow.
once the mother plant starts to die you can prune back the mother to 1/2 its size, saying this you do not have to do this as they will grow fine but may look a bit untidy till the pups grow in size
once the pup's are 1/3 size of the mother plant they can be removed and planted separately. Again you do not have to do this and the plants will grow fine in a clump.
Happy Growing
