My Bromeliad Looks Like Its Dying

Bromeliads are part of the air plant family and with this are normally found growing on rocks and trees where there is sometimes little or no food. Bromeliad parent or full size flowering plants actually die to provide food for there babies (pup's) in the way of mulch and moisture as the leaves on the plant die. With this new plants will develop and grow. most of the time you will end up with 2 or more plants growing from the one plant that you have. This is how they naturally multiply.

The picture bellow shows 3 new pups off one mother plant in the garden

Gardening With Bromeliads

Pup's will sometimes develop before or after flowering what every you do don't throw the plant out even if near dead, some can take some time to pup

once you have pups 1/3rd size of the mother plant these can be divided please see "Breaking Up And Dividing Bromeliads" for more information

OR COULD YOU HAVE COPPER NEAR BY

Is there any copper that could be running into the plant copper will kill Bromeliads even if you get run off from a roof made of copper treated timber this can be just enough. There is very little that kills Bromeliads but copper is one of them

Bellow is a picture of a copper power pole. The rainwater run off has killed a plant

Bromeliads Do Not Like Copper

Happy Growing
