Growing In Your Garden
Most Australian Native orchids grow fine in a part shade or dappled light in the garden.
remember not to over water and to use good quality orchid bark when planting in logs etc.....

Orchids grown well in rockeries, logs, stumps, trees, tree fens, palms and one of the most popular in the top of staghorns and elkhorns
the only thing to remember when growing orchids in the garden is not to over water or to position in an over wet potting mix/medium for when it rain's
recently i have seen some different orchids for sale and growing information on the tags and if followed would leave most gardeners with dead plants when grown in our local growing conditions. remember most larger shops do not grow their own orchids and the orchids are sourced from all over Australia and conditions vary from area to area
In most of south east Qld most orchids will not grow well if full sun!!!!!!! in general morning sun till 9am then dappled light. some more common orchids sold at larger outlets are Phalaenopsis and Hardcane Dendrobiums these are mostly more of a tropical orchid and away from coastal areas need to be grown indoors or under cover in winter for best results
If not sure ask growers around you, look up a local orchid society or your local orchid nursery/farm
Below is some oncidium orchids in a tree getting only what mother nature gives
